Zuma is sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese Izakaya style of informal eating and drinking
Fendi isn’t just about fashion anymore. The iconic brand’s Rome headquarters, Palazzo Fendi, is now home to the award-winning Japanese restaurant Zuma. Founded by Arjun Waney and chef Rainer Becker, Zuma eateries have already debuted in New York, Hong Kong, and more, making Rome its tenth location.
The Zuma dining experience is as luxe as the Fendi maison itself: the fifth floor lounge boasts an exclusive roof terrace with a jaw-dropping view of stunners like Piazza di Spagna and Vatican City, and the bar’s drink list go far beyond the classic glass of red (think forty different types of sake and martinis infused with fresh raspberry and passion fruit).
You could stop by for an ebisu style lunch (€28), or indulge in an aperitivo of dishes like monkfish tempura and crispy calamari with green chilli and lime, but why not stay for dinner? Becker’s dishes, inspired by izakaya dining, are ordered from the sushi counter, the Robata grill, or the main kitchen, serving up modern Japanese cuisine that is designed to be split with a group – but with food this good, sharing is a challenge.
Zuma Bar & Lounge opens from 6pm till 2am and offers a cocktail menu with an exciting mix of Zuma signature and seasonal cocktails such as raspberry & passion fruit martini; rubabu, with rhubarb infused sake, vodka, passion fruit and lemon; shiso and yuzu mojito, with rum, shiso, yuzu, lime and soda water.
