TOUR ITINERARY
Step back in time with a visit to Ostia Antica, an extraordinary archaeological site founded in the 4th century BC. Once a thriving harbor town with over 100,000 residents, it now offers a glimpse into the everyday life of Ancient Rome.
Your journey begins with a train ride from central Rome, accompanied by a guide who will bring Ostia Antica’s rich history to life. As you wander through ancient taverns, thermal baths, warehouses, and the grand amphitheater, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into the past.
Walk along the Decumanus Maximus, the town’s main thoroughfare, where statues of Roman gods and citizens still line the streets. Marvel at the intricate mosaics of the Baths of Neptune, where a striking depiction of the sea god being pulled by a four-horse chariot still survives.
At the amphitheater, imagine the roar of the crowd as you stand where 3,500 Romans once gathered for entertainment in 12 BC. Don’t miss the communal Forica, a large public restroom where ancient Romans gathered—offering a rare glimpse into the more human side of their civilization.
After the tour, choose to stay and explore more of the ruins or visit modern Ostia and its beaches. If you prefer, you can join your guide for the train ride back to Rome.
