“50 Best” announced their annual “World’s 50 Best Bars List” and four Italian establishments have made the cut.
“50 Best,” produced by the UK media conglomerate William Reed, releases 10 lists a year detailing the 50 best restaurants, bars, and other businesses worldwide.
On October 22, 2024, the most awaited gala in the bartending world took place: the announcement of the 50 World’s Best Bars, ranking the fifty best bars in the world. Locale Firenze (Florence), Drink Kong (Rome), Moebius Milano (Milan), and 1930 (Milan) all took spots on the list.
Locale Firenze has climbed ten spots this year, reaching 36th place on the list. It’s a well-deserved recognition for one of the most stunning and innovative venues in Italy, blending modern mixology and dining concepts within the historic setting of Palazzo delle Seggiole.
“We are always very proud to be included in such a prestigious guide, and this year the recognition is especially meaningful given Locale Firenze’s new best ranking and the nature of this event.”
Faramarz Poosty, General Manager of Locale
Locale Firenze
“50 Best” describes Locale Firenze as “a time machine that takes you both backward and forwards,” due to its old Tuscan flair and beautifully designed antique interiors. However, their menu is modern and even futuristic using the latest lab technology in their cocktails– even featuring low-waste approaches to mixology.
Their menu is concise and well structured with 11 signature cocktails to choose from as well as a vast wine selection that won’t disappoint. Bar Manager Fabio Fanni expanded the menu to include luxury bar bites as well– the menu includes bao buns, a deer burger, and more. Overall, it is easy to see why Locale Firenze has earned this esteemed honor as one of the best bars in Italy, and even in the world!
Drink Kong
Drink Kong, which can be found in the Esquilino area of Rome, is a bar that blends a retro interior with a modernist menu. The interior is dark but vibrant and accentuated with neon lights, and there are many nooks and small booths to sit down in for a cocktail. Patrick Pistolesi, the founder of Drink Kong and lauded mixologist, curates cutting-edge cocktails and the bar has surely earned its 33rd place on the list.
Moebius Milano
Moebius Milano offers delicious cuisine, curated cocktails, and a Milanese cultural experience in a former textile warehouse in Milan. The bar is incredibly stylish and led by Giovanni Allario who undoubtedly attracts “vibrant clientele,” according to 50 Best. Moebius Milano is a great place to stop for a scenic cocktail under a 700-year-old olive tree on the weekdays, and if you’re looking for a little more fun, they offer a regular program of jazz, bossa nova, and lively DJ sets on the weekends. Moebius Milano placed 38th on the 50 Best list.
1930
Finally, taking the 50th place on the 50 Best list, is 1930 in Milan. The ethos of this bar is incredibly unique with an unpublished address and invite-only access, making the vibe incredibly lux and exclusive. Prohibition-era interiors pervade the shopfront and the menu is full of revamped pre-Prohibiton drinks. Co-owner and bartender Benjamin Cavagna has created an establishment that is simultaneously “hush-hush” and incredibly sought after.
