The event dedicated to book lovers is back to Florence
The festival of the cultural project La città dei lettori which promotes the passion of books and reading is returning to Florence. Here is all you need to know about the festival.
Since the first edition of the festival in 2018, La città dei lettori organizes book presentations, conferences, meetings and workshops with authors, illustrators, translators and other figures of the literary world, from all around the Tuscany region to promote the passion of reading.
The festival highlights the work of both small and big writers gathered in a place where they can share their ideas and even present books not yet published.
“Leggere cambia tutto” translated “reading changes everything” is the motto of the 2022 edition of the festival. Conducted by the Fondazione CR Firenze and the Associazione Wimbledon APS, the project grows every year with new locations and new special guests. The fifth installation promises to be particularly rich, including the first novelty of the 2022 edition which is the presence of foreign writers. Among them: the writer Fernanda Trías from Uruguay, Martín Caparrós, Argentine journalist and writer, the illustrator Barroux and the writers Luc Lang and Olivier Guez who are coming from France.
During the events of the festival, the public will have the opportunity to meet the following Italian figures: Jonathan Bazzi, Fabio Genovesi, Vera Gheno, Piero Pelù, Marco Baliani, Alba Donati, Catena Fiorello just to name a few. The event will end with a new appointment: a meeting with the finalists’ candidates of the famous Italian literary award Premio Strega and the introduction of the association’s literary award “La città dei lettori” which will be awarded to a writer present during the festival.
The 2022 edition of the festival will start on Thursday, June 9, 2022 in Florence. The event will begin at the Villa Bardini at 5 pm with an animated reading by the illustrator Barroux.
The festival will go on in the city until Sunday, June 12, 2022 with a very rich program of events, all accessible freely without reservations. All of the following events will be held at the Villa Bardini, situated beyond the Arno river after the Ponte alle Grazie.
