Concerti del Tempietto presents its new edition
Take in an evening of live music with Rome’s only surviving ancient theater, Teatro Marcello (built by Augustus in 13 BC) as your backdrop. From solo piano to classical guitar, from bel canto arias to string quartets, hear music by Schubert, Liszt, Gershwin, Piazzolla, Debussy, Haydn, and other legendary composers.
As part of the Festival Musicale delle Nazioni, the historic Roman music festival, Concerti del Tempietto presents its new edition for the 2023 summer. Among the remains of the Temple of Apollo Sosianus, in the cloister adjacent to the church of Santa Maria in Portico in Campitelli, for three months young musicians and famous performers will be on stage every evening.
Each concert is preceded by a guided tour included in the ticket price, both in Italian and in English, in the archaeological park around the Theater of Marcellus, to discover an unusual and fascinating continuity between past and present. Twenty centuries ago the area was in fact a space dedicated to performances and sacred rites, and the theater itself was used for public performances for over four centuries.
