Caffè Novecento isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill bar in Rome. You won’t find here the hustle and bustle that you find at most bars. In fact, few cafès offer the unique slow pace and coziness of this tea room/bistro. It’s located on a quiet, characteristic Via del Governo Vecchio street and its ambience is mellow and relaxing with soft jazz music playing in the background. It’s the perfect place to truly unwind, read the paper or a book while sipping on one of their fabulous cappuccinos or on a cup of their extensive selection of savoury teas. They also have a selection of decadent desserts such as coffee cakes, chocolate cake topped with pears and other sweet treats just like grandma makes. If you pop in around lunchtime, there’s also a wonderful buffet selection of quiches, salads, cous-cous and gourmet sandwiches. One can even come for an early evening drink.
