Italy’s First Avocado Bar is in Monti
Down a peaceful side street in the neighborhood of Monti, a little green oasis awaits, serving one of the most loved fruits in many imaginative forms. Classified as a superfood, the avocado has recently become recognized for its beneficial anti-oxidant content. Two young Romans, Francesco and Dario, have capitalized on the fruit’s new popularity and have opened Italy’s first Avocado Bar, now one of the city’s most happening food joints.

Something of a hole in the wall, the locale nevertheless exudes serenity with a doorway framed by potted greenery and an interior decorated in tropical wallpaper and a mossy ceiling. The location is perfect as its lies on the cusp of Monti on a street that opens up onto the Fori Imperiali, providing a great view for those who prefer to take their avo-snacks outdoors.
Six avocado chefs have mastered 30 recipes which include both savory and sweet items of which the most noteworthy include the “Hamburguesa de Salmòn”, an ensemble of smoked salmon, avocado and robiola cheese on hearty bread, the “Rosa del Paraíso”, an elaborate avocado toast with additional ingredients like red hummus and slivers of dried ricotta cheese, and a unique avocado ice cream paired with ingredients such as pistachios and sweet ricotta. The team has come up with truly innovative ways to represent the avocado, working with only the ripest and creamiest avocados seasonally sourced throughout the year from Africa, Mexico and Sicily.
This gem attracts both tourists strolling by and workers on their lunch breaks or out for light dinners. The spot has added a little diversity to the city’s restaurant scene; a fun option for some healthy, affordable sustenance.
